Another one bites the dust!

I just finished MS #5!!!

It's a YA contemporary called, The Worst Job Ever, with a little humor and a little romance. Just the way I like it :)

It's filled with all the great YA problems: family troubles, friend issues, good boys, bad boys, stuck up classmates, work problems, school dilemmas, etc. All crammed together in 27 chapters and 70,000 words. Trust me, they don't like being crammed together. And that's what makes it so awesome!

There are fights, handsy boys, crazy parties, jealous girls...and one of my favorite things about it is the format. Weird, right? It's rockin' awesome! It makes me so excited.

Of course, right now it's still first draft material. The characters are a little flat, the internal monologue is really confusing, and the pacing is all over the place.

But at least I now have something to work with! I'm going to give it some space and revise my YA fantasy. And, of course, continue to suppress all the great ideas that are taking over my mind.

I need more time!

How is your writing coming? Are you in the excitement of a first draft or in the trenches of revisions?

  1. Ooh, your manuscript sounds fun. I was in the fun place of just starting a new story but then I got my edits back so I'm working on those now. I don't normally enjoy edits but this time I can really see the improvement on the story and its great.

  2. Congrats on finishing the first draft always exciting. I am ready to get back to writing instead of editing and revising. I'm actually trying to write a short story for the sword and laser anthology.

  3. Congrats Michelle,

That is so great. It's so fun to get the first draft completed. It so great that your have such an upbeat and positive attitude! Keep up the good work!

  4. Thanks guys! Good luck with that short story Brandon!

  5. Sorry to comment so late on this post (I was in my revision hole)~ congrats on the new MS~ it sounds like so much fun!

  6. So exciting! I am mostly just writing my dissertation right now, and in the re-plotting stages of my 2nd manuscript. It's halfway done word count wise, but I think will need some reworking once I've added these plot twists.

I'm so excited to be done my PhD and be able to focus more on fun writing again this July/Aug!

Thanks so much for visiting! I appreciate your comments and feedback.
