Wednesday-Writing about writing. Ice Cream Cone with a CHERRY!

I love ice cream, but ice cream with a cherry on top is even better.  Sure, go ahead and throw in some whipped cream, but the cherry is my favorite.  I know, some of you may think that's a little gross, but we are all entitled to our opinions :)

My life is like a giant waffle ice cream cone filled with the yummiest ice cream, and yes, even a huge red cherry on top.  The thick waffle cone is my strong foundation.  It's what holds my life together.  That would include things like my family, friends, and faith.  I picked a waffle cone because they are the best and they are really thick.  I have a great foundation!

The ice cream is the sweet things that fill my life.  Of course life has its 'rocky roads' so to speak, but vacations with my husband, visits with my family, laughter from my kids, family outings, church activities, and all the other great things hidden in life's journey are all so sweet!

And then there is the cherry on top.  When I finally get time to write, it's like eating the cherry on top.  I only discovered my love for writing about a year ago.  The first time I sat down to write, I thought I was crazy.  Me write?  Yeah RIGHT!  But, I did it.  My writing was terrible, and is still really bad, but I'm learning.  And it is so much fun.  I might not get to write as often as I'd like, but when I do, it's so great.  Some of you may get to write often enough that it has become part of your sweet ice cream.  That's awesome!  Hopefully, one day, when my kids are all in school (that would be in forever) I'll get another sweet thing to fill my life everyday!

Where is your writing in your ice cream cone?

  1. Hi, Michelle! I hopped over from Quinn's blog to meet a new blog buddy and say hello! :-)

  2. I love this! I think for me writing is the ice cream itself, mostly because I'm an ice cream addict and I can't think of anything better than that. Cherries, whipped cream? All fine, but give me ice cream or stories to write and I'm one happy bunny :)

  3. Wow. This is a great analogy for life. I have to agree with you, waffle cones are the best and, on top of that, there is NOTHING better than maraschino cherries.

Every week my family has dinner at the same restaurant (my grandparents have been going there for 25 years!) on fridays. They used to have maraschino cherries and I'd get it in every sprite. One day they stopped (about three years ago) So my mom and I went to teh grocery store and bought a jar. We leave it there so that every friday we get three cherries in our drinks! (Which for me has now gone from sprite to a bellini!)

Anyways, sorry - side tracked. Ummm, to be honest, writing for me is a part of the waffle - I don't function well if I don't get to write for a long time - is a part of the ice cream and is the cherry. Writing is such a huge part of my ice cream and life.

This is a great post! Thanks.

  4. Shannon, it's good to have you here!

Marieke, that's awesome that writing is such a big part of your life!

Melissa, I LOVE that you take your own bottle of cherries! So worth the effort, I bet. That's a great tradition too.

One day writing will be my ice cream and maybe even my waffle!

  5. Your pictures crack me up! Since I am not a big fan of cherries I would have to say that writing in my ice cream analogy is the whip cream and every once in a while it is part of the ice cream itself!
