Let's make things simple...

Life has been a bit overwhelming for me lately.  I think much of that is just holiday stress.  Whatever it is, I need to simplify a few things in life.  After a long discussion with my husband last night, we came to a conclusion that one thing that would be simple to cut out is blog deadlines.  So my sad announcement to you is that I'm cutting out my Monday and Wednesday scheduled blog posts.  From now on the only scheduled day will be my aspiring author Friday's.  I just can't part with that.  It's the only way I get to know other writer's.  I know, kind of selfish, but it's a need thing.

I'll still be posting on other days, but it will be when I get the chance.  I might actually end up posting random writing thoughts more often!  I'll still let you in on the awesome books I'm reading and although I'm going to cut out the star review, I'll give my opinion and tell you the basic movie rating.  Maybe after the holidays I can go back to my regular schedule.
I just have a couple more things to cover.  First of all, I've found a name for my new laptop.  I know, kind of cheesy, but I'm really excited about it.  To celebrate this awesome event, I'm going to have a contest.  It's really basic and the reward might only be exciting to some of you, but it's all I have to offer for now.
Here's how it works.  At the bottom of this post I'm going to tell you the name.  The first person to post the book series where we can all find this amazing, light-hearted, good-natured character gets the prize.  And what's the prize you may be asking?  It's a five page critique by me.  I still call myself a beginner writer, but if you need an extra pair of eyes, I'll give you a few Michelle pointers.  I've read tons of YA fiction books and I've also read amazing how to write and edit books.  Take that info for what it's worth, you are most likely a better writer, but I'm a pretty good reader :)
One last thing to mention before I tell you the name of my new friend.  My blog is going to be getting a facelift sometime in the near future.  I've got a new picture that I'd love to use for my header so I'm going to try and find a blog background to match.  Maybe I'll design one, or get one of my computer savvy and photoshop extraordinaire friends to help me :)  When it happens, you won't want to miss it!  I'm so excited.

Here's a little teaser picture.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed?  How do you simplify?

It's time to meet my good friend, Janco.

  1. No idea who janco is and hopefully it's because I haven't read the right book yet, otherwise I feel really stupid!! As for the questions at the end...YES! I think we all do at some point. And no one is going to be able to tell you how to simplify, you have to figure out what is stressing you. I think it's a good start by not blogging so much. We will survive without Mon and Wed. :) If you are ever really overwhelmed you know you have great friends that can help!!

  2. Awe! I bet that will help a ton though! Gotta take care of real life first and blog life after, so totally understandable.
    Like that computer though!!

  3. LOVE the picture, can't wait to see your new design. Um, not sure if this is what you're thinking about, but wasn't Janco that sword guy in the Study series by Maria Snyder??? Cute name for a computer!!!

Hope your busy-ness turns around soon, I think it's a good idea to cut blogging back if life is a bit out of control.

    Hugs,

    Rach

  4. He is the sword guy! I love his character. If you've read the Study Series and liked it, you should definitely read the Storm Glass series that come after. Good job Rachael! You are the winner!

Thanks everyone for your understanding. I love that I've made new friends and I'm glad I have a way to connect to everyone.

  5. I don't know Janco either. :D Good name though. I named my computers, too - Wrongway and Tiberius.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed. Prioritizing is a must.

  6. I totally understand- I'm trying to find a good place for blogging and keeping up with blogs and trying not to feel overwhelmed. It's hard! Good luck, and what a great name- I haven't read the series. My computer's name is Buffy ;p

  7. I'm not sure who Janco is but I can't identify completely with being overwhelmed and needing to simplify. That's why I only post once or twice per week. The blogging community understands. And you're sweet so you won't lose readers either. Get some YOU time in there and have a great holiday.
